MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION
Gearcases
Middle Gearcase (RANGER 6X6)
Always check and c hange the middle gearcase oil at the intervals
outlined in the Periodic Maintenance Chart beginning on page 53.
Maintain the oil level even with the bottom thread of the fill plug hole.
Refer to the Gearcase Specifications Chart o n page 6 3 for
recommended lubricants, capacities and torque specifications. See page
99 for the part numbers of P olaris products.
The middle gearcase fill plug (1 ) is located o n the side of the g earcase.
Oil Check
1. Position the vehicle on a level
surface.
2. Remove the fill plug. Check
the oil level.
3. Add the recommended oil as
needed.
4. Reinstall the fill plug. Torque to
specification.
Oil Change
1. Remove the fill plug.
2. Remove the drain plug (2) from
the bottom o f the g earcase. Drai n the oil into a drain p an. Discard
used oil properly.
3. Clean and reinstall the drain plug. Torque to specification.
4. Add the recommended fluid.
5. Reinstall the fill plug. Torque to specification.
6. Check for leaks.
