How do the phone-in commands work?
Your IntelliPage system has a sophisticated, microprocessor-controlled pager residing
inside your car. To send a command to your IntelliPage, you simply call your regular
pager phone number, enter your PIN (personal identification number), spell out what
you want the system to do, then hang up. That’s all there is to it! Best of all, there are no
additional pager service fees since you simply use your existing pager* and service. For
instance, let’s say you will be leaving your office in a few minutes and want to pre-warm
or cool your car’s interior. Just dial your regular pager number. When your pager service
picks up, you identify yourself by entering on the telephone keypad your PIN code, then
spell out
START on the telephone keypad, then hang up. That’s it! Your pager service
will relay the message to your IntelliPage system, which in turn will start your car’s
engine. Your belt pager will even confirm your commands. Before you try it, there are a
few things you need to know about your PIN security code and how to enter commands.
Your PIN code
Just like the PIN code at automatic teller machines, your IntelliPage PIN code makes
sure that no unauthorized person can issue commands to your IntelliPage system. You
may select your PIN code to be any 1- to 4-digit number you wish, except that no digit
may be a zero. You should select a number that’s easy for you to remember. For
instance, you can make it the same as the day and month of your birth, or make it a name
(e.g., JOE = 563 on the phone keypad or BOB = 262). As shipped from the factory,
IntelliPage’s factory preset PIN is 555. Since all IntelliPage systems are shipped from
the factory with the same PIN code — 555 — it is important that you change the code.
How to set a new PIN code
1. Your PIN code can be any number that has 1 to 4 digits, but may NOT include the
digit zero (O).
2. You must enter on the phone keypad the asterisk () key before and after your pin
code and any command (please see the next page).
3. Write down the complete entry: Always start with an asterisk, followed by your
existing code (555 in this case), followed by an asterisk. Now write the command
code to change your PIN code. This command is “CODE” or 2633 on a telephone
keypad. Add an asterisk to signify the end of the command. Next write down the new
PIN code you have selected, then add an asterisk after the new code. Repeat your
selected code and conclude with an asterisk. This written string of numbers should be
in the following format (the hyphens are there just to help you read):
-555--2633--[Your new code]--[Your new code]-
Note that you must write down the new code twice to ensure it’s entered
properly (if the two entries don’t match, your PIN will NOT be changed).
4. Dial your pager phone number. When the service picks up and is ready to accept
your message, type in your written string of numbers on the telephone keypad.
* PageMate uses the 900MHz-range band and POCSAG form. This encompasses most belt-type pagers
and pager services. Older pagers and services with different specifications are not supported.
