Crankshaft, piston and connecting rod

16. Push the piston out of the cylinder.
NOTE: Sometimes a ridge of carbon builds up where the
cylinder meets the head. If this happens, the piston
can be removed from inside of the cylinder block.
17. Remove one of the piston pin retaining rings.
See Figure 10.5.
18. Remove the piston pin.
19. Remove the piston rings from the piston using a pair
of piston ring pliers.
See Figure 10.6.
NOTE: The piston, rings and connecting rod are currently
not available as service parts. If they are damaged
or worn, the engine must be short blocked.
20. Remove the crankshaft.
NOTE: The crankshaft bearings are pressed onto the
crankshaft and will come out with it.
