MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION
Engine Cooling System
Radiator Coolant Level
NOTE: This procedure is required
only if the cooling system has been
drained for maintenance and/or repair.
However, if the recovery bottle has
run dry, the level in the radiator
should be inspected and coolant
added if necessary.
1. Using the tool provided, remove
the four screws securing the front rack (1). Remove the front cover
(2) by placing your fingers under the front of the cover and pulling
upward.
2. Remove the pressure cap.
3. Using a funnel, slowly add coolant as necessary through the
radiator filler neck.
4. Replace th e pressure cap and secure the fron t cover and rack .
NOTE: Use of a non-standard pressure cap will not allow the
recovery system to function properly. Contact your dealer for the
correct replacement part.
NOTE: To ensure that the coolant maintains its ability to protect the
engine, we recommend that the system be completely drained every
two y ears and a fresh mixture of an tifreeze and water added. Polaris
recomme nds the u se of Polaris Premium 60/40 anti-freeze/ coolant or a
50/50 mixture of high quality aluminum compatible anti-freeze/coolan t
and distilled water. Polaris Premium 60/40 is already premixed and
ready to use. Do not dilute with water. See page 117 for the part
numbers of Polaris-recommended products.
NOTE: Always follow the manufacturer’s mixing recommendations
for the freeze protection required in your area.
WARNING
Escaping steam can cause sever e burns. Never remove the
pressure cap while the engine is war m or hot. A lways allow the
engine to cool before removing the pres sure cap.
