Cleaning and Storage

Storage Tips
Clean the Exterior
Make necessary repairs and then clean the ATV thoroughly with mild
soap and warm water to remove all dirt and grime. Don’t use harsh
detergents or high pressure washers. Some detergents deteriorate rubber
parts. Use dish soap type cleaners only. High pressure washers may
force water past seals.
Stabilize the Fuel
Fill the fuel tank. Add Polaris Carbon Clean Fuel Treatment or Polaris
Fuel Stabilizer . Follow the instructions on the container f or the
rec ommended a mount. (Ca rbon c lean w ill also reduce the possibility of
bacte rial gr owth in the fuel syste m.) Allow 15-20 minute s of operation
for t he sta bilizer to disperse through the f uel in the tank a nd c arbure tor .
T urn the fuel va lve of f a nd drain t he ca rburetor bowl.
Oil and Filter
Warm the engine and change the oil and filter.
Air Filt er / Air Box
Inspe ct a nd c lean or repla ce the pre -cle aner and a ir f ilter. Clean the air
box a nd dra in the s ediment tube .
Breather Filter
Inspect and clean or replace the breather filter.
Fluid Levels
Inspect the following fluid levels a nd change if necessary: fron t and
rear gearcases; transmission and brake fluid (change every two years or
as required if fluid looks dark or contaminated).
Starting the engine during the storage period will disturb the protective
film created by fogging and damage could occur. Never st art the
engine during the s torage period.
