Operator Safety
POTENTIAL HAZARD
Operat ing the ATV through deep or fast-flowing water.
WHAT CAN
HAPPEN
T ires may float, caus ing loss of tr action and loss of control,
which could lead to an ac cident or overturn.
HOW TO AVOID THE
HAZARD
Avoid operating the ATV thr ough deep or fast-flowing water.
If it’s unavoidable to enter water that exceeds the
recommended maximum depth (see page 64), travel slowly,
balance your weight carefully, avoid sudden movements, and
maintain a slow and steady forward motion. Do not make
sudden turns or stops, and do not make sudden throttle
changes.
Wet brakes may have reduc ed stopping ability. Always test
the brakes afte r leaving water . If necessary, apply them
several times to let friction dry out the pads.

severe injury.
HOW TO AVOID THE
HAZARD
Before s hifting into reverse gear, always check for obstacles or
people behind the ATV. When it’s safe to proc eed, back
slowly.
