Master Cylinder
The brake fluid in the master
cylinder (1), which is located on the
left handlebar, should be checked
before each ride. The flu id level
can be seen through an indicator
window (2) on the top of the master
cylinder. This eye will ap pear dark
when the fluid level is full. When
fluid needs to be added, the eye will be clear.
NOTE: When checking the flu id level , the ATV mus t be on level
ground with the handlebars straight. If the fluid level is low add DOT 3
brake fluid only. See page 117 for the part numbers of
Polaris-recommended products.

Afte r opening a bottle of b rake fluid, alway s discard any
unused portion. Never store or us e a partial bottl e. Brake
fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it rapidly absor bs moisture from
the air. The moisture caus es the boiling temper ature of the
brake fluid to drop, which can lead to early brake fade and the
possibility o f accident or severe injury.
