Section B - Disconnecting/Connecting
Hand Brake Cable Assembly (FIGURE 5)
NOTE: This procedure applies to the PANTHER MX
- 4 ONLY.
DISCONNECTING.
NOTE: Note the distance that the adjusting nut is
threaded on the hand brake cable assembly before
removing for proper reinstallation.

9. For PANTHER MX - 4, remove the brake cable
from the retaining tabs on the underside of the
front frame assembly.
10. Refer to the chart on page 11 of this manual to
determine which section(s) need to be performed
next to successfully complete the removal/instal-
lation of the tiller assembly.
ASSEMBLING.
1. Secure the tiller wiring harness in the retaining tabs
on the underside of the front frame assembly.
2. For PANTHER MX - 4, secure the brake cable in
the retaining tabs on the underside of the front
frame assembly.
NOTE: Before installing the cable ties, be sure they
are in the proper positions.
3. Secure the tiller wiring harness to the underside of
the front frame assembly using NEW cable ties.
4. For PANTHER MX - 4, secure the brake cable to
the underside of the front frame assembly using
NEW cable ties.
5. Return the front frame assembly to the upright
position.
6. Reassemble the front frame assembly and the
rear frame assembly. Refer to
TRANSPORT-
ING THE SCOOTER in PROCEDURE 10 of the
Owner’s Manual, part number 1090132.
7. If necessary, reinstall the on - board battery charger.
Refer to
REPLACING ON - BOARD BATTERY
CHARGER in PROCEDURE 11 of the Owner’s
Manual, part number 1090132.
8. Reinstall the batteries. Refer to
REMOVING/IN-
STALLING THE BATTERIES WITH CABLES in
PROCEDURE 4 of the Owners Manual, part
number 1090132.
9. Reinstall the floor basket. Refer to
REMOVING/
INSTALLING THE FLOOR BASKET in PRO-
CEDURE 11 of the Owner’s Manual, part num-
ber 1090132.
1. Remove the adjusting nut from the hand brake
cable assembly.
2. Slide the hand brake cable assembly out of the
brake arm joint, the spring and the tab on the
rear frame assembly.
3. Remove the spring.
4. Remove the brake arm joint from the disc brake
assembly.
NOTE: Save the hand brake cable assembly and all
components for reassembly.
5. Refer to the chart on page 11 of this manual to
determine which section(s) need to be performed
next to successfully complete the removal/instal-
lation of the tiller assembly.
CONNECTING.
1. Position the brake arm joint in the mounting hole
in the disc brake assembly.
2. Position the spring between the tab on the rear
frame and the brake arm joint.
3. Slide the hand brake cable assembly through the
tab on the rear frame, the spring and the brake
arm joint.
4. Thread the adjusting nut onto the hand brake
cable assembly until there is approximately 1/2 -
inch of thread showing.
5. Refer to the chart on page 11 of this manual to
determine which section(s) need to be performed
next to successfully complete the removal/instal-
lation of the tiller assembly.
