Navigation Process Flow
All navigation operations begin with the NavMate Navigation Systems
Main Menu/Where do you want to go? screen. From this menu, you have five
different options all with the same function: selecting your destination. In Table
2, the Main Menu options are briefly described for your reference.
After selecting a destination, you are asked to select route criteria. Route
criteria is used to tell the navigation system howto calculate your route. Do
you want to avoid freeways or drive mostly on freeways? Do you want the
shortest time-route regardless of whether there are freeways or not? Also, how
much time do you have to give the system to calculate your route? These
choices are described in more detail in the Table 8, Select Route Criteria
Screen Optionson page 31.
Finally, the navigation system calculates your route, then guides you to the
destination. Proceed to your destination by following the directions. Figure 2
graphically depicts this flow.

Main Menu Option Select this Option to...
Address/Intersection Select a destination based on a street address or intersection that you
know.
Point of Interest Select a destination that is a point of interest location. For example, an
airport, restaurant, or hospital.
Previous Destination Select a destination from among the last 10 entered destinations.
Address Book Select a destination from already-added address book entries.
Maintain address book entries, which includes adding, deleting, or
editing.
Freeway Entrance/Exit Select a freeway entrance or exit ramp as your destination.
