3. Close the shroud.

Fittings and fasteners
Check the tightness of the fittings and fasten-
ers.
Tighten in proper sequence and torque if nec-
essary.

Battery
The battery is located under the air filter case.
(See page 109.)
This model is equipped with a VRLA (Valve
Regulated Lead Acid) battery. There is no
need to check the electrolyte or to add distilled
water. However, the battery lead connections
need to be checked and, if necessary, tight-
ened.
WARNING
EWS00540
Battery electrolyte is poisonous and dan-
gerous. It contains sulfuric acid and can
cause severe burns. Avoid contact with
skin, eyes, or clothing.
ANTIDOTE:
EXTERNAL: Flush with water.
INTERNAL: Drink large quantities of wa-
ter or milk. Follow with milk of magne-
sia, beaten egg, or vegetable oil. Call
physician immediately.
EYES: Flush with water for 15 minutes
and get prompt medical attention.
Batteries produce explosive gases. Keep
sparks, flame, cigarettes, etc. away. Venti-
late when charging or using in an en-
closed space. Always shield your eyes
when working near batteries.
KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN.
Charge or have a Yamaha dealer charge the
battery as soon as possible if it seems to have
discharged. Keep in mind that the battery
tends to discharge more quickly if the snow-
mobile is equipped with electrical accesso-
ries.

Never smoke around the battery while it
is being charged. Sparks may ignite the
hydrogen gas created by the battery.
Disconnect the negative lead first, then
the positive lead from the battery.
Connect the positive lead first, then the
negative lead to the battery when install-
ing the battery.
Never connect the battery to or discon-
nect it from the snowmobile while it is
being charged. Sparks may ignite the
hydrogen gas created by the battery.
Make sure that the battery terminals are
tight.
NOTICE

To charge a VRLA (Valve Regulated
Lead Acid) battery, a special (constant-
voltage) battery charger is required. Us-
ing a conventional battery charger will
damage the battery.
Do not charge the battery quickly.
