IDLE SPEED ADJUSTMENT
1. Start engine and warm it up thoroughly.
Idle Screw
CV Carburetor
Idle Speed:
1300 ± 100 RPM
2. Adjust idle speed by turning the idle adjustment
screw in (clockwise) to increase or out
(counterclockwise) to decrease RPM. (Refer to
Ill. at right).
NOTE: Adjusting the idle speed affects throttle cable
freeplay and electronic throttle control (ETC)
adjustment. Always check throttle cable freeplay
after adjusting idle speed and adjust if necessary.

1. Slide the boots off inline cable adjuster sleeve.
Loosen adjuster locknut.
2. With handlebars centered and wheels pointing
forward, turn adjuster sleeve until 1/16² -1/8²
freeplay is achieved at the thumb lever. After
making any adjustment, “flip” the lever slightly to
confirm adjustment.

3. T ighten locknut and slide boots over cable
adjuster until they touch at the middle point of the
adjuster.
4. With engine running, turn the handlebars from full
left to full right with transmission in neutral.
Engine RPM should not change and the engine
should not die. If either of these occur, return to
the first step.
THROTTLE OPERATION
To remove the ETC cover:
1. Use a medium flat blade screwdriver and insert
blade into the pockets of the cover starting on the
#1 position.

2. T wist screwdriver slightly while lifting on the cover
to release snap.
3. Repeat procedure at the other five locations as
shown. NOTE: Do not attempt to remove cover
until all latch points are released.
Check for smooth throttle opening and closing in all
handlebar positions. Throttle lever oper ation should
be smooth and lever must r eturn freely without
binding. Replace the throttle cable if worn, kinked, or
damaged.
NOTE: When replacing the cover, check for correct
placement of cover O-ring.
