3. Install:
Sdowel pins
Sexhaust camshaft caps
Sintake cmashaft caps
SMake sure each camshaft cap is installed in its
original place.
SMake sure the arrow mark
a
on each cam-
shaft cap points towards the right side of the
engine.
4. Install:
Scamshaft cap bolts
Tighten the camshaft cap bolts in stages and in
a crisscross pattern, working from the inner
caps out.
I1, 12: Intake side camshaft cap mark
E1, E2: Exhaust side camshaft cap mark
SLubricate the camshaft cap bolts with the
engine oil.
SThe camshaft cap bolts must be tightened
evenly or damage to the cylinder head,
camshaft caps, and camshafts will result.
SDo not turn the crankshaft when installing
the camshaft to avoid damage or improper
valve timing.
5. Install:
Stiming chain guide (exhaust side)
When installing the timing chain guide, be sure
to keep the timing chain as tight as possible on
the exhaust side.
