ENGINE BREAK-IN
The most critical time in your engine's life is the first 20 hours. For this reason, we ask that you careful-
ly read the following material. Because the engine is brand new, you must not put an excessive load
on it for the first several hours of running. During the first 20 hours, the various parts in the engine wear
and polish themselves to the correct operating clearance. In the first 20 hours of the engine's operation
it is critical to avoid excessive engine heating. However, momentary (2~3 seconds maximum) full throt-
tle operation under load does not harm the engine. Each full throttle acceleration sequence should be
followed with a substantial rest period for the engine by cruising at lower rpm (revolutions per minute)
so the engine can rid itself of the temporary build up of heat.
1. 0~10 hours:
Avoid continuous operation above half throttle. Allow a cooling off period of five to ten minutes after
every hour of operation. Vary the speed of the machine from time to time. Do not operate it at one
set throttle position.
2. 10~20 hours:
Avoid prolonged operating above ¾ throttle. Rev the machine freely but do not use full throttle at any
time.
3. After break-in:
Avoid prolonged full throttle operation. Vary speeds occasionally.
Battery Installation
INITIAL SERVICE AND INSTALLATION OF BATTERY:
The following procedure is very dangerous and should be performed with utmost care and
attention. Wear protective eyewear, rubber gloves, and have water available should electrolyte
come in contact with skin or eyes. KEEP ALL CHILDREN AWAY FROM THE AREA WHILE
THIS PROCEDURE IS BEING PERFORMED.
POISON – CAUSES SEVERE BURNS
Contains sulfuric acid.
Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing
TO prevent accidents, rinse empty container with water.
ANTIDOTE:
External – flush with water
Internal – Call physician immediately. Drink large quantities of water or milk.
Follow with milk of magnesia, beaten eggs or vegetable.
Eyes – Flush with water for 15 minutes and get prompt medical attention.
