Connecting rod and
piston
(1) Scrape off any carbon from the cylinder
and the piston head, then remove the
connecting rod bolt.
(2) Remove the connecting rod cap.
(3) Rotate the crankshaft until the piston
comes to its top position. Push the
connecting rod and remove the piston
from the upper part of the cylinder.
10 mm box spanner
M6 × 33mm : 2 pcs.
(Models EX13, 17 and 21)
M7 × 40mm : 2 pcs.
(Model EX27)

Piston and piston rings (1) Remove the piston clips (2 pcs.). Take
out the piston pin and then remove the
piston from the connecting rod small end,
taking care not to damage the connecting rod
small end.
(2) Remove the piston rings from the piston
by spreading them at the gap.
Take special care not to damage the rings
when doing this.
