ADULT SECTION
Pre-Ride Check
n Check throttle safety switch
Test the throttle safety switch system
on a daily basis before the machine
is used.
While seated in a normal riding
position, and with the engine idling,
hold the throttle lever pin stationary
by exerting pressure on the pivot pin
in the direction shown in the
illustration (A). Apply a slight
amount of throttle opening. A properly functioning switch must shut
down the engine.
The throttle safety switch is designed to stop the engine whenever all
pressure is removed from the throttle lever and the throttle cable or
valve does not return to the normal closed position.
If excessive play develops in the
throttle cable, the safety switch may
be activated and will prevent the
engine from starting. If the engine
doesn’t start and throttle safety switch
malfunction is suspected, return t he
machine to an authorized Polaris
dealer for service. If an adult must
start the engine in an emergency situation, the throttle safety switch
and engine stop switch may be disconnected from the wire harness. In
this situation, the i gnition key switch m ust be used to shut off the
engine. Be sure t o reconnect the safety switches and have the
snowmobile serviced before operating the vehicle again.
WARNING
Do not continue to operate the machine with the throttle safety
switch disconnected as serious injury or death could result.
Return the machine to an authorized Polaris dealer for service
before operating.
