Nu•m8 is waterproof to IPX7.
IPX 7 is a standard for classifying the degrees of protection provided by the enclosures of electrical
equipment. The proper name for the standard is IEC 60529 IPX7. A device, such as Nu•m8, with
an IPX7 designation means that it can withstand immersion in one meter of water for up to 30
minutes. We would not recommend Nu•m8 be worn for swimming but it should be okay for playing
around in water.
Please note that sea water is corrosive and as such will over time affect the IPX rating of Nu•m8. If
it is in contact with sea water please ensure that it is washed thoroughly with fresh water and
allowed to dry before charging.
