When customers ask about the E-Series horsepower figures, explain to
them that torque is what gets a big load moving and horsepower
keeps it moving. Torque measures towing and hauling power, a more
important number than straight horsepower, which isn’t as important
for truck applications. You’ll also find that many Ford trucks hold a
torque advantage in comparison against competitors.

Triton

Modular Engine Family
One camshaft in each cylinder head eliminates the need
for pushrods
Single Overhead Cam (SOHC) design provides an
advanced level of valve control
Deep-skirt engine block design and low-friction components
enhance reliability and fuel economy
Silent-design chain cam drive contributes to reduced noise
Electronic Throttle Control
Standard on all E-Series models
Uses electronic sensors instead of a mechanical linkage
Uses driver input to actively modulate torque at the drive
wheels, as opposed to sensing torque at the flywheel, as
some competitive systems do
Delivers seamless and consistent engine response and
transmission shifts
When going up a hill or on rocky terrain, Electronic Throttle
Control (ETC) allows consistent pedal input for smoother
engine response
Engine Oil Cooler
All E-Series models are equipped with an auxiliary
engine oil cooler, mounted at the front of the vehicle behind
the grille. The engine oil cooler:
Helps the engine oil maintain proper operating temperature,
preventing oxidation and increasing the oil’s lubricating and
protecting properties
Contributes to longer engine life, lower emissions and better
fuel economy
California Emissions (422) is no longer available, replaced by
50 State Emissions (425).
Standard on all Wagons with 7-, 8- or 11-passenger seating
