REMOTE CONTROL AUTO SECURITY SYSTEM
PRE-INSTALLATION NOTES:
Model APS-15R
PASSIVE / ACTIVE ARMING SELECTION:
This alarm can be programmed to operate as either a “PASSIVE” or “ACTIVE” arming security system.
As a“Passive” alarm, thesystem willautomatically arm itselfapproximately 30 secondsafter theignition key isturned off, onedoor
is opened,then allvehicle doorsare closed, (arming issuspended untilthe last dooris closed).This featureprotects thevehicle inthe
event you forget to arm the system using the keychain transmitter.
This systemis shipped inthe passive mode,therefore nomodifications are requiredto make thesystem operate asa “Passive” alarm.
As an “Active” alarm, the system can only be armed using the keychain transmitter. There will be no backup automatic arming.
To make the system operate as an “Active” alarm, simply un-plug the quick disconnect terminals located on the small black wire
loop coming out of the control module.
VOLTAGE SENSE / HARDWIRE SELECTION:
This alarm can be wired to operate as a Voltage Sensing or a Hardwire system.
As a voltage sensing system, the alarm will trigger any time an entry point that illuminates a courtesy light is opened. The system is
shipped in the voltage sensing mode, therefore, no modifications are required to make this system a voltage sensing alarm.
Asahardwiresystem,the alarmwilltriggeranytimeadoor,hood,trunk,etc.is opened,bywiringdirectlytotheswitches.Thismeans
thatifthecourtesylight isburnedout,orthecourtesylightfuse isblown,thealarmwillcontinuetoprotectall pointsofentry.Tomake
this system operate as a hardwire alarm, cut the small green wire loop coming out of the control module.
NOTE: When “Passive Arming” and “Voltage Sensing” are selected, you must hardwire the driver’s door pin switch or passive
arming will never be initiated.
STARTER DISABLE:
This system provides an output to control an optional starter cut relay (not included).
When this option is installed, any time the system is armed, the vehicles starting circuit is inoperable.
DOOR LOCK / UNLOCK OUTPUTS:
This system provides negative (ground) pulsed door lock outputs, whichallows direct connection to some (3 wire ground switched)
OEM factory installed power door lock control relays. These outputs have a maximum current capability of 300 mA.
Whenconnectingtovehiclesthatusea3wirepositiveswitched,or4or5wirealternatingpolaritydoorlockcontrolcircuit,theoptional
AS-9159 Door Lock Interface is required.
As an added convenience to the professional security installer, a chart has been printed in this guide for recording wire colors,
component mounting locations, and any other useful tips particular to the vehicle you are working on. Taking a few extra moments
on each installation to fill in the chart, can save you valuable time in the future.
