TIP
This model is equipped with an engine oil
pressure switch to stop the engine in case an
engine oil pressure drop is detected. To start
the engine after this system has stopped the
engine, be sure to place the snowmobile on a
level surface, and then turn the key in the
main switch to the off position, and then to the
on position. Failing to do so will prevent the
engine from starting even though the engine
will crank when turning the key to the start po-
sition. If the engine does not start or if it stops
again, ask a Yamaha dealer to inspect the
snowmobile.

Starting the engine
Read the Owners Manual carefully to be-
come familiar with all controls. If there is a
control or function you do not understand, ask
your Yamaha dealer.
WARNING
EWS00201
Failure to familiarize yourself with the con-
trols can lead to loss of control, which
could cause an accident or injury.
1. Apply the parking brake.
2. Be sure the engine stop switch is in the
run position. The starter motor cannot be
operated when the engine stop switch is
in the off position.
3. Turn the main switch to the start position
and release it when the engine starts.
NOTICE: Release the switch immedi-
ately after the engine starts. If the en-
gine fails to start, release the switch,
wait a few seconds, then try again.
Each attempt should be as short as
possible to preserve the battery. Do
not crank the engine more than 10
seconds on any one attempt.
