OPERATION
Driving Safely
Driving Through Water
WARNING
The large tires o n your RANGER may cause the vehicle to f loat in
deep or fast-flowing water , which c ould result i n loss of control
and lead t o serious injury or death. Never cross deep or
fast-flowing water wit h your RANGER.
Your Polaris RANGER can
operate through water up
to a maximum
recommended depth equal
to the floorboards (1).
Follow these procedures
when operating through
water:
1. Always determine
water depths and
current before entering.
2. Choose a crossing
where both banks have
gradual inclines.
3. Proceed s lowly, avoiding rocks and obstacles.
4. After leaving water, always dry the brakes by applying light
pressure to the lever repeatedly until braking action is normal.
NOTE: After running your vehicle in water, it’s critical that you
perform the services outlined in the Periodic Maintenance
Chart beginning on page 53. Give s pecial attention to engine
oil, transmission oil, front and rear gearcases, and all grease
fittings.
CAUTION
Immersion can result in major damage if the vehicle isn’t s erviced
correctly and promptly. After immersion, alway s take the vehicle
to y our dealer service. Do not start the engine!
If it’ s impossible to bring the vehicle t o your dealer before starting
the engine, perform the service outlined on page 77, and take the
vehicle to your dealer at the first oppor tunity.
