MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION
Lubrication Recommendations
Rear Gearcase Oil Check
With the ATV on a level surface,
remove the fill plug and view the
oil level through the fill hole (1).
Lubricant should be kept even
with the center of the drillpoint
(2), approximately 1 5/8 below
the top of the fill hole. Use Polaris
Premium Synthetic Gearcase
Lube (or GL5 80-90 weight gear
lube). NOTE: See page 141 for
the part numbers of
Polaris-recommended products.
NOTE: Do not add lubricant to
the bottom of the fill plug threads.
Rear Gearcase Oil Change
1. Remove the drain plug (3).
Catchanddiscardusedoil
properly.
2. Clean and reinstall the drain
plug with a new sealing
washer. Torque to 14 ft. lbs.
(19 Nm).
3. Remove the fill plug and add
10 oz. (300 ml) of the
recommended gear lube.
Maintain the oil level even
with the center of the
drillpoint (approximately 1
5/8 below the top of the fill
hole).
4. Reinstall the fill plug. Torque to 14 ft. lbs. (19 Nm).
5. Check for leaks.
