Adjusting Valve Clearance
Remove the cylinder head cover.
Rotate the crankshaft in the normal direction.
While watching the movement of the intake valve of
No. 4 cylinder, bring the No.1 cylinder into
compression top dead center position
Align the TOP engraved mark on the crankshaft
pulley (1) with pointer (2).
NOTE:
• The engraved mark on the crankshaft pulley will
read “1.4 TOP.”
• The No. 4 intake valve will start to open when the
No. 1 cylinder comes near compression top
dead center.
Loosen the lock nut (3) on the adjustment screw (4).
Insert the feeler gauge (5) between the valve stem (6)
and the rocker arm (7).
Adjust the clearance with the adjustment screw until
slight drag is felt on the feeler gauge.
