Engine Backfires
Possible Cause Solution
Weak spark from spark plugs Inspect, clean and/or replace spark plugs
Incorrect spark plug gap or heat range Set gap to sp ecs or replace plugs
Old or non-recommended fuel Replace with new fuel
Incorrectly installed spark plug wires See your Polaris dealer
Incorrect ignition timing See your Polaris dealer
Mechanical failure See your Polaris dealer
Engine Runs Irregularly, Stalls or Misfires
Possible W eak Spark Ca use Solution
Fouled or defective spark plugs Inspect, clean and/or replace spark plugs
Worn or defective spark plug wires See your Polaris dealer
Incorrect spark plug gap or heat range Set gap to sp ecs or replace plugs
Loose ignition connections Check all connections and tighten
Water present in fuel Replace with new fuel
Low battery voltage Recharge battery to 12.8 VDC
Kinked or plugged fuel vent line Inspect and replace
Incorrect fuel Replace with recommended fuel
Clogged air filter Inspect and clean or replace
Reverse speed limiter malfunction See your Polaris dealer
Electronic throttle control malfunction See your Polaris dealer
Other mechanical failure See your Polaris dealer

Low or contaminated fuel Add or change fuel, clean the fuel system
Low octane fuel Replace with recommended fuel
