restraints control module to determine the deployment of side-impact
air bag protection
• Deploy from the outboard edge of the headliner to cover the side
windows from the A-pillar to the C-pillar and provide supplemental
head protection to front-seat and rear-seat occupants in the event of
certain side impacts
• Monitors vehicle roll angle and rate and, if the system determines a
rollover may be imminent, deploys the air curtains, which remain
inflated for several seconds
