Checking the riding sag of the shock absorber

Measure distanceb of rear wheel unloaded. ( P. 34)
With another person holding the motorcycle, sit on the saddle with full protective
clothing in a normal sitting position (feet on footrests) and bounce up and down a
few times until the rear suspension levels out.
The other person now has to measure the distance between the rear axle and a
fixed point.
Make a note of the value as measurementb

Check the riding sag.

Adjusting spring preload of the shock absorberbx
Danger
Danger of accidentsThe shock absorber is under high pressure.
The shock absorber is filled with highly compressed nitrogen, so never dismantle the shock absorber or carry out any main-
tenance on it yourself.

Before changing the spring preload, make a note of the present setting, e.g., by measuring the length of the spring.
Remove shock absorber. ( P. 36)
After removing the shock absorber, clean it thoroughly.

Loosen screwb.
Turn adjusting ringb
until the spring is no longer under tension.
Combination wrench (50329080000)
Hook wrench (T106S)
Measure the overall spring length when not under tension.
Tighten the spring by turning adjusting ringb
to measurementb.

Depending on the static sag and/or the riding sag, it may be necessary to
increase or decrease the spring preload.
