Additional Protection
An Extension LED can be mounted on your
dash or doors. It will flash when the system
is armed and warns a potential thief that
your vehicle is protected with a security
system.
A Starter Cut Relay is provided with the
system for additional security. When the
system is tripped, it will prevent the engine
from being started.
The starter cut relay can be selected to be a
normally open or normally closed type. The
difference between the two types is the
status of the starter motor. On a normally
closed type, the starter motor will be
disengaged whenever the alarm is tripped.
Otherwise, the engine can be started. On a
normally open type, the starter motor is
disengaged unless the main unit is in the
disarm, valet, or panic modes and the
ignition is turned on. If the main unit is
disconnected or removed, the car cannot be
started.
Notes:
For more information regarding different
types of starter disabling systems, please
consult your local authorized Alpine
dealer.
The starter cut relay is part of an overall
system which is intended to deter theft by
prolonging the time required to take
possession of the vehicle. The time
required to bypass the starter disabling
circuitry of the security system is
dependent on the installation location of
the starter cut relay and main unit. The
more time and care taken during the
installation to hide the key components of
the security system, the longer it will take
for a potential thief to start and steal the
vehicle.
