Checking the drive track

Do not operate the snowmobile if you find
damage to the drive track, or if it has been
maladjusted. Drive track damage or failure
could result in loss of braking ability and
snowmobile control, which could cause
an accident.
Check the drive track for deflection, wear, and
damage.
Adjust or replace if necessary. (See the fol-
lowing section for more details.)
Measuring the drive track deflection
1. Lay the snowmobile on its side.
2. Measure the drive track deflection with a
spring scale. Pull at the center of the drive
track with a force of 100 N (10 kg, 22 lb).
NOTE:
Measure the gap between the slide runner
and the edge of the track window. Measure
both sides.
3. If the deflection is incorrect, adjust the
drive track.
Adjusting the drive track

Be sure to have a Yamaha dealer make
this adjustment.
Support the snowmobile securely on a
suitable stand before working under-
neath the snowmobile.
Operate the engine in a well-ventilated
area.
