Engine, general
General inspection
Make a habit of “visually” inspecting the engine and
engine room before starting the engine and after
stopping when the engine has been turned off. This
will help you to quickly detect abnormalities that have
occurred or are about to occur.
Look especially carefully for oil, fuel and coolant
leaks, loose bolts, worn or slack drive belts, loose
connections, damaged hoses and electric cables.
This inspection takes only a few minutes but can pre-
vent serious operating diesturbances and costly re-
pairs.
WARNING! Accumulations of fuel, oil and grease
on the engine or in the engine room is a fire haz-
ard and must be removed immediately they are
detected.
IMPORTANT! If an oil, fuel or coolant leak is de-
tected, the cause must be investigated and the
fault rectified before the engine is started.
IMPORTANT! Never point high-pressure water
jets directly at seals, rubber hoses or electrical
components. Never use the high-pressure func-
tion when washing the engine.
