IMPORTANT: Frequently remove any grass clippings, dirt and
debris from coolingfins, air intake screen and levers and linkage
(see Figure 6). This will help ensure adequate cooling and
correct engine speed.

ADJUSTMENTS
DO NOT MAKE UNNECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS. FACTORY
SE'I-I'INGS ARE SATISFACTORY FOR MOST APPLICATIONS
AND CONDITIONS. IF ADJUSTMENTS ARE NEEDED, PRO-
CEED AS FOLLOWS:

STORAGE
_k NEVER STORE ENGINE WITH FUEL IN TANK INDOORS OR I
IN ENCLOSED, POORLY VENTILATED AREASWHERE FUEL I

LIGHT AS ON A FURNACE, WATER HEATER, CLOTHES

IF ENGINE IS TO BE UNUSED FOR 30 DAYS FOR MORE, PRE-
PARE AS FOLLOWS:
_) DRAIN FUEL SYSTEM:

Remove all gasoline from carburetor and fuel tank to prevent
gum deposits from forming on these parts and causing possible
malfunction of engine.
DRAIN FUEL INTO APPROVED CONTAINER OUTDOORS,
AWAY FROM OPEN FLAME. BE SURE ENGINE IS COOL. DO
NOT SMOKE.
Run engine until fuel tank is empty and engine stops due tolack
of fuel.
NOTE:
NOTE:
If "Gasohol"has been used,completeaboveinstruc-
tionsandthenput 1/2 pintof unleadedgasolineintofuel
tankand repeatabove instructions.
Fuel stabilizer (such as STA-BIL) is an acceptable
altamative in minimizingthe formationof fuel gum
depositsdudngstorage. Addstabilizerto gasolinein
fuel tank or storage container.Alwaysfollowmix ratio
found on stabilizercontainer.Run engineat least 10
minutesafter adding stabilizer to allow it to rach
carburetor.
(_ CHANGE OIL:
Changeoilifithasnotbeen changedinthelastthree(3) months.

(_) OIL CYLINDER BORE:
A. Removesparkplugand pourone (1) ounce(30 ml)ofclean
engineoilinto spark plughole.
B. Cover spark plugholewitha rag.
C. Crank engine over,slowly,severaltimes.
_k AVOID SPRAY FROM SPARK PLUG HOLE WHEN
I CRANKING ENGINEOVER SLOWLY.
D. Installspark plug.Do not connectsparkplugwire.
(_) CLEAN ENGINE:
Removeany clippings,dirt, or chafffromextedorofengine.
GENERAL
Just as your automobile needs professional mechanical mainta- '
nanca from time to time, so does your Craftsman engine. Replace-
ment of the spark plug and air cleaner is made necessary by
NORMAL use. Professional Air-Cooled Engine Service isas close as
your nearest Sears Roebuck and Co. (orSears Canada, Inc.) Service
Center.
A yearly check-upor tune-up by Sears is a good idea to avoid
breakdownsordelay.., do itat the endof the season,thenyou're
