Spark Plugs
Spark Plug Recommendations
CAUTION
Using non-recommended spark plugs can result in serious engine
damage. Always use Polaris-recommended spark plugs. Refer
to the specifications section beginning on page 108
.
Refer to the specifications section beginning on page 108 for the
recommended spark plug type and gap for your vehicle. Torque spark
plugs to specification.
Plug Condition Torque Specification
New Spark Plug 9-11 ft. lbs. (12-15 Nm)
Previously Installed Spark Plug 17-20 ft. lbs. (23-27 Nm)
Spark Plug Inspection
Spark plug condition is indicative of engine operation. Check the spark
plug firing end condition after the engine has been warmed up and t he
vehicle has been driven at higher speeds. Immediately check the spark
plug for correct color. See page 90.
WARNING
A hot exhaust system and engine can cause serious burns. Wear
protective gloves when removing a spark plug for inspection.
1. Remove the spark plug cap.
2. Using the special wrench provided in the tool pouch, rotate the
spark plug counterclockwise to remove it.
3. Reverse the procedure for spark plug installation. Torque to
specification.
