Replacing bulbs

Your hands should be dry and free of oil and
grease.
R
If the newly installed bulb does not come
on, contact an authorized Mercedes-Benz
Center.

Mercedes-Benz recommends using
Longlife (LL) bulbs.
Have the LEDs and bulbs for the following
lamps replaced at an authorized Mercedes-
Benz Center:
R
Additional turn signal lamps in the exterior
rear view mirrors
R
Bi-Xenon lamps
R
Front fog lamps
R
Front side marker lamps
R
License plate lamps
R
Parking and standing lamps
R
Front turn signal lamps
R
Rear lamps
R
High-mounted brake lamp
!
Do not replace the LEDs yourself. You
could otherwise damage the LEDs or parts
of the vehicle. Only have the LEDs replaced
at an authorized Mercedes-Benz Center.
Replacing bulbs for front lamps
You can change the halogen bulbs for the
following lamps:
R
High-beam flasher lamp
R
Corner-illuminating lamp
R
IR emitter lamp

Warning!
Do not remove the cover for the Bi-Xenon
headlamp. Because of high voltage in
Xenon lamps, it is dangerous to replace the
bulb or repair the lamp and its components.
It is recommended to have such work done
by a qualified technician.
Before you start to replace a bulb for a front
lamp, do the following:

Switch off the ignition.

Turn the exterior lamp switch to position
M.
X
Open the hood (Y page 443).

Housing cover for high-beam flasher bulb
and IR emitter lamp bulb

Housing cover for corner-illuminating
lamp bulb
Removing and installing washer fluid
reservoir (vehicles with AIRMATIC only)
You must remove the washer fluid reservoir
in order to change the bulbs of the headlamp
on the driver’s side. The washer fluid reservoir
is on the front driver’s side of the engine
compartment.
