TheTransCastFMiscompatiblewithalliPodmodels/MP3players,iPhone,
SonyPSPandanyaudiodevicewithaheadphoneoutput.
SettingUpYourTransCastFM
1.InserttheincludedrechargeablebatteryintotheTransCastFM’sbattery
compartment.Forlongroadtripsin thecarortosavetheTransCastFM’s
batterypower,attachandusetheincludedCarCharger.
2.PlugtheConnectionCableintoyouriPod,iPhone,PSP orMP3player’s
headphonejack,andthenintoyourTransCast FM’saudioinput.
3.TurnonyourTransCastFM.The defaultfrequencyfortheTransCastFM is
88.1,whichshouldbedisplayedon theTransCastFM’s LCDscreen.
4.TurnonyourFMradioandandtuneto88.1.If88.1isoccupied,findan
emptyFMstationwithnosignal.Formorehelpwiththis, pleaseread
FindingEmptyRadioFrequencies[pg7].
5.UsingtheJoystickControlontheTransCastFM,matchtheFMfrequency
onyourTransCastFMwiththeemptyFMstationonyourradio.Youshould

hearmostof thestaticgo awaywhenyoudothis.Nowyourradiohasfound
theTransCastFM’ssignal.
6.PressplayonyourconnectediPod,iPhone,PSP,MP3playerorotheraudio
devicetoenjoyitsaudio.
FindingEmptyRadioFrequencies
Ifyouliveinabigcity withalotofFMradiostations,findingan“empty”FMfrequency
canbetricky.Herearesometipsforfindinganemptystation:
•BesuretosearchtheentirespectrumofFMfrequencies,from88.1to107.9.
Don’tjustlooktothelowendof thedial.ThereareoftenemptyFMstationsin
the100’sthatwillworkgreat.
•Whenusingscan/seekonyourcarradio,ifyourtunerstopson101 andthen
jumpsto103,lookinthe102frequenciesforemptystations.
•Tryscanningtoastrongstation,thenbackingdowntwofrequencies-
forexample103.5to103.1.Youcanoftenfindemptyfrequenciesthisway.
Ifthatfrequencyistaken,scantothenextstationandtryagain.
OptimizingtheSoundQualityofYourTransCastFM
ToachievethebestsoundqualityfromyourTransCastFM,youmustcarefullyadjust
thevolumelevelof yourdevice.Tryturningupthevolumeofyourdeviceuntilyouhear
noiseordistortion,thenturnthevolumedowntojustbelowthatlevel.Thisisthe
optimalvolumelevel,whichcanchangebasedonthestyleofmusicyouareplaying.
