Operating Your AviStart
Remote Engine Start - Safety and Counter-Theft
I
CAUTION : Be sure to read the "WARNING" bulletin on the inside
cover of this manual before attempting to operate remote start.
Automatic Safety and Counter-Theft Features
Before remote starting your engine, the AviStart system will automatically
perform a safety check to ensure the following conditions have been met:
• Brake pedal is not depressed.
• Engine and ignition are turned "OFF."
• Hood is closed.
After remote starting your engine, the AviStart system will shut off the engine
immediately if the ignition is "OFF" and any of the following occurs:
• The hood is opened.
• The brake pedal is pressed.
• The remote control START button is pressed.
• The 20 minute run time expired.
Visual Fault Indication
When you press the remote control button to start your engine, AviStart's
built-in fault detection system will automatically scan all of the safety zones. If
a fault is detected, the system will prevent your engine from remote starting
and provides a visual indication to show where the fault has occurred. The
parking lights will flash 1 time if a hood switch fault is detected, 3 times if a
brake switch fault is detected and 4 times if the system is in "Protected Valet
Mode" (see page 7 for a description of this feature). If this occurs, you may
need to bring your vehicle to your authorized Avital dealer for service.
Remote-Controlled Door Lock/Unlock*
To Lock the Doors
Press the remote control
C
button for 1-2 seconds. The doors will lock and the
parking lights will flash twice.
* If your system was installed with this door lock/unlock feature,
all other door lock/unlock related features will apply.
