POSSIBLE CAUSE AND WMEDY
@Washeroverloaded. Clothescannotmovefreelyto loosen and removesoil, causing
gray appearance. Followcorrect loadingproceduresfor sizeofload.
@Improper soakingwith insufficientdetergent.Usually a 30-minutesoakis sufficient.
However,when using extendedsoaksfor heavilysoiledgarmentsyoumayneed to use
twice the recommended amountofdetergent,
@Use of soap in hard water. Switchto a phosphatedetergent, or followsix stepsat the
bottomofpage 18.
~Washingtoo long mayresult in increasedsoildeposition. Use shorterwashtimesfor
smaller loads.
@Detergentdissolvestoo slowly.Detergentmustbe present in the washsolutionat the
start of agitation. See page 13.
@Torestore grayedclothes~followone ofthese procedures:
Put clothes in washer. Fill with H~ water..CheckManufacturers’Care Labels to
determine if hot wateris suitablefor garment.
~Add a non-precipitatingtype of water sofienersuch as Calgonwith phosphate—

@Do not use detergentor soap.

colorusingcolorremover(suchasRitor Tintexbrands),followingpackagedirections.
@Iron or manganesein watermaycauseoverallyellowingor yellowspots.
1. Useextradetergentplusa non-precipitatingwatersoftenerdissolvedin water
before adding clothes. Use non-chlorine bleach.
Have a special filter or chemical feeder installed in your home to removeiron and
manganese from water.
Run hot water for a few minutesto clean iron residue bui~dupin lines; drain water
heater occasionally.
