ZX-6R 2007-08 instructions 01/16/08
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR: ZX-6R 2007-08
Tools required: 36mm socket / 32mm socket/ 5mm Allen wrench
1) Use Loc-tite on all nuts and bolts.
2) Remove the large 36mm nut and washer that holds your triple clamp on. You will not re-use either of these.
3) Install the new “triple clamp damper mount” (TC mount) over the steering stem with the “machined register” (the
tab hanging down) over the back of the triple clamp, with the “wings” so they match the cast shapes of the triple
clamp. The nub insures the mount cannot spin should the damping forces try to loosen the main nut. It should
match the contour exactly and drop into the casting shapes exactly as per the photo.
4) Install the new 32mm nut. Torque the new nut to the factory setting, normally a minimum of 65-ft lbs.
5) Remove both front fuel tank retaining bolts. Remove the stock washers from these bolts and put the washers
under the frame bracket, on top of the tank mounts. Use the longer bolts provided in the kit.
6) Install the new “frame bracket tower”. There is a front and back to this part, note the picture! The tower is
offset toward the front of the bike. (The new frame bracket looks a little different from the picture).
7) Grease the tower pin and drop it in the tower-pin hole. It is designed to “float” and should stay greased.
8) Install the damper using the (2) 6x20 Allens with the slot in the link arm matching the tower pin.
9) The key sits very close to the stabilizer on this model, but clears. You can trim the key a little, if needed.
10) Read your damper manual for initial settings for the controls. The stabilizer is infinitely adjustable and totally up
to the user to find their preference. Start with softer (counter clockwise) settings. Normally, where we set the
unit at 8 clicks out on the base valve, is a good starting point.
11) If you have any questions about anything, please call, we want to help you install this correctly.
