MAINTENANCE
Gearcases
Rear Gearcase
Always check and change the rear gearcase oil at the intervals outlined
in the Periodic Maintenance Chart beginning on page 58.
Refer to the Gearcase Specifications Chart on page 68 for recommended
lubricants, capacities and torque specifications. See page 112 for the
part numbers of Polaris products.
The rear gearcase fill plug is on the driver's side of the rear gearcase.
Oil Check (4X4)
Maintain the oil level 3/4" (19 mm)
below the bottom thread of the fill
plug hole. Use a light colored non-
absorbent measuring instrument
(such as a white cable tie) to mea-
sure the depth.
1. Position the vehicle on a level
surface.
2. Remove the fill plug. Check the
oil level.
3. Add the recommended oil as
needed.
4. Reinstall the fill plug. Torque to
specification.
Oil Check (6X6)
The easiest way to check for
adequate oil in the 6X6 is to
drain and refill the gearcase to
capacity (see page 68). Perform
the oil change as outlined on
page 74.
