Set 485 Options
The Set 485 Options item from the Main Menu lets you address
slave units connected to a master through the EIA-485 port. If a
connected slave unit loses communication, the master RCM8
dials out to report the communication loss.
To set EIA-485 port parameters:
1. From the Main Menu, press 8 to display the Terminal
Options Sub-menu:
RCM8 EIA-485 OPTIONS MENU
* Master Unit Address = 1
1. Set Online Units =
2. Set Offline Units = 2 3 4
<ESC> to Quit
This menu also shows the current configuration for each
item.
2. Press the number corresponding to the parameter you wish
to configure, then enter the appropriate data as follows:
Master Unit Address
This address must always be 1 when master and slave units
are connected.
Set Online Units (1)
Add an address for a new active slave unit.
Set Offline Units (2)
Do not add an address for an offline unit.
3. When you are finished, press Esc to exit the EIA-485
Options menu and return to the Main Menu. Changes made
to this parameter are saved when you press Esc.
