REAR AXLE STABILIZER BAR
Rear-axle
stabilizer bar
under frame
Details and Technology
The stabilizer bar is made of spring steel and is fitted behind and parallel to the axle and transversely to
the direction of travel. It is attached at two points to the axle tube and at two points to the frame. The
stabilizing effect is exerted only under unilateral compression. If there is equal compression on both
sides, the stabilizer bar has no effect.
Benefits and Arguments
• Improved road handling even with an unequally distributed load
Reduced roll
The stabilizer bar reduces roll which occurs, for example, when cornering with a load which has a high
centre of gravity or when the front axle load is unequally distributed.
Remarks
Recommended for vehicles with tall bodies. Standard on 2500 Cargo Van, Passenger Van and Chassis
Cab. Available on 3500 Cargo Van.
