Front stabilizer bar
Details and Technology
A stabilizer bar is mounted to the control arms and axle housing. The stabilizer is a torsion bar made of
spring steel and is fitted transversely to the direction of travel. The stabilizing effect is exerted only under
unilateral compression. If there is equal compression on both sides, the stabilizer bar has no effect.
Benefits and Arguments
• Reduces roll
• Improved road handling even with an unequally distributed load
The stabilizer bar reduces roll which occurs for example when cornering with a load which has a high
centre of gravity or when the front axle load is unequally distributed.
