Clifford 900-IQ Automobile Alarm User Manual

NightVision™
All of the following NightVision Headlight Automation features are built into your
IntelliGuard 900-IQ:
User-selectable: You may turn the NightVision features on or off whenever you
wish (see pages 21-25).
When driving at dusk: The system automatically turns on the headlights.
When driving at dawn: The system automatically turns off the headlights.
Precision activation: NightVision automatically and unerringly turns the
headlights on or off only when necessary. For instance, if it is dark when the car’s
engine is started, NightVision instantly turns on the headlights, yet when the
vehicle is driven under an overpass in daylight, the headlights will not turn on.
Even more importantly, when passing through a very brightly lit area at night, the
headlights will not switch off. However, if you drive into a dark parking structure
during the day, NightVision will turn on the headlights within five seconds of
entering the structure.
When you park your car at night: NightVision keeps the headlights on for any
duration of your choice between 1 sec. and 2.5 min. (factory preset to 30 sec.; to
change the duration, see User-selectable features on pages 21-25) after you turn
off the engine to light your path away from the vehicle.
RainCheck™— rainy day safety feature: When you turn on the windshield wipers
— day or night — NightVision automatically turns on the headlights and keeps
them on for as long as the wipers are on. This feature delivers an extra margin of
driving safety since it increases the vehicle’s visibility to all other drivers on the
road. This is a real battery-saving feature since you don’t need to remember to
turn off the headlights after driving in the rain during daylight hours.
Manual control of headlights: If you wish to manually turn on the headlights,
simply turn on your vehicle’s headlight switch.
How to interpret the LED status indicator
The LED on your car’s dashboard or console will inform you of the system status:
LED Condition Meaning
Off
System is disarmed and in normal operating mode (i.e., valet mode is off)
On
Valet mode is on, the vehicle can be driven or serviced without having to disarm
Flashing (ignition off)
System is armed and protecting your vehicle
Flashing (ignition on)
20-second countdown to engine shutdown: Enter your disarming code IMMEDIATELY
Pause between flashes
Either a malfunction (see page 19) or an intrusion was attempted (see page 20)
Automatic Battery-Saving Mode
To conserve vehicle battery power (the LED draws more current than the entire control
unit), if the system has remained continuously armed for 48 hours, the flash rate will
automatically slow to half the normal rate. After 96 hours, it slows to one-quarter.
