Spark Plug
Check the spark plug every 100 hours. Replace the
spark plug if upon inspection the electrode
Ê is burned
or worn. Ensure the spark plug is clean. Check the gap
Ë with a wire gage Ì and reset to .51 mm or 0.020 in.
if necessary.
Note: In some areas, local law requires using resistor
spark plug to suppress ignition signals. If this
engine was originally equipped with resistor
spark plug, use same type for replacement.

Fan Belt
Check condition of fan belt for fraying, cracking or
cuts.
Replace if damaged or worn.
To Adjust Fan Belt Tension
1. Loosen bolt Ê and bolt Ë.
2. Fit torque wrench in the square torque hole

located on the bracket.
3. Apply 115 in-lbs of torque in direction shown.
4. Hold tension per step 3 and torque bolt

Ë to 135 in-lbs.

Fuel Filter
Drain fuel tank or close fuel shut-off valve before
replacing fuel filter. Otherwise, fuel can leak out
creating a fire/explosion hazard.
When replacing fuel filter, ensure clamps are tight
and fuel flows in same direction as FLOW arrow on
filter.
WARNING
Replacement parts for fuel system (cap,
hoses, tanks, filters, etc.) must be the
same as original parts, otherwise fire can
occur.
