Question About Whistler Radar Detector XTR-475
compass won't calibrate...

press both quiet & Dark button at the same time as the instruction manual suggested. The compass does not rotate and calibrate.

4 Hello, I was having the same problem at first getting this radar detector to go into the calibration mode to get the compass setup correctly. The problem is that the included manual for the detector is incorrect in the directions. I did notice however that on the bottom of the radar detector itself were a separate set of compass calibration directions- still somewhat similar then the manual minus one thing. It does not direct to hold the buttons until the headings start flashing, it just says to press both DARK and QUIET buttons simultaneously. So, with a little tinkering I determined the correct directions and are as follows: 1.Make sure radar detector is mounted and level with windshield as directed in Installation and Mounting procedures. 2. Press the MENU button once. You should notice all 4 compass headings illuminated if you're in the correct mode. 3.Simultaneously press both DARK and QUIET buttons on the radar detector. The manual says "press both buttons simultaneously UNTIL compass headings start to rotate." Simply just press both DARK and QUIET buttons simultaneously and quickly and release. You should now notice the compass headings start to rotate in a clockwise motion. 4. Now drive the vehicle slowly in two complete CLOCKWISE circles, as the motion indicates, to calibrate the compass. 5. The radar detector should beep twice and show the current compass heading once completed* *Calibration can also be completed if not done automatically by pressing the QUIET button on the detector. Hope that helps all you others, I came to this site myself to try to find help but I'm glad that I can now be the person to help everyone else, good luck :).
