All of a sudden my vcs lights came on they both sa...

All of a sudden my vcs lights came on they both said vsc off and then the other said just vsc They said its a sensor that went off if i ran in a pot hole and the car runs good so not to worry or have sensor replaced. So is this true i dont kno what to do .I am a single women that doesnt want or need to be taken advantage of
