PUMPING GAS IN MY CAR...

WNEN I PUMP MY GAS THE CAR SPITS A LITTLE BACK OUT AND I HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT TO GO BACK DOWN BEFORE I START TO PUMP IT AGAIN . AM I PUMPING IT TO FAST OR COULD THERE BE AN ACTUAL PROBLEM WITHIN MY GAS TANK?
