can i use a non synthetic or a leghter weight gear...

can i use a non synthetic or a leghter weight gear oil in my rear diff. on 03 crown vic P.I. with gear ratio of 3.27? my diff tag says (75W140 synthetic only) rear axle # (V004H 27 88 2E07). thank you Tim Chavez
