all lights on dash lit up, then when I stopped the...

all lights on dash lit up, then when I stopped the car it shut off. It will boost, but when cables are removed it shuts off, when I turn the ignition I see the light that has a car and a padlock - what does this mean? I had to have it towed home to figure this out....is it the remote starter acting up?
