I took my battery out and now the radio says safe ...

I took my battery out and now the radio says safe mode I cant figure out the code and the code the sticker that's sapost to be in the wheel well has decayed and ripped its not readable. seems so stupid to pay 65 bucks for a 4 digit code... can anyone help please?
