Air Cleaner Element Cleaning
NOTE
○
In dusty areas, the element should be cleaned more
freque
ntly than the recommended interval.
○
After riding through rain or on m uddily roads, the ele-
ment should be cleaned immediately.
WARNING
If dirt or dust is allowed to pass through into the
throttle assy, the throttle m ay become stuck, possi-
bly ca
using accident.
CAUTION
If dirt gets through into the engine, excessive en-
gine w
ear and possibly engine damage will occur.
WARNING
Clean the element in a well-ventilated area, and take
care that there are no sparks or flame anywhere
near the working area; this includes any appliance
with a pilot light.
Because of the danger of highly flammable liquids,
do not use gasoline or a low flash-point solvent to
clean the element.

Remove the fuel tank (see Fuel System (DFI) chapter).
•
Remove the fuel tank bracket [A].

Remove:
Screw [A] and Air Cleaner Duct Holder [B]
Pull it out [C] backwards.
