FUEL SYSTEM 2-11
Carburetor
Turn the fuel tap to the ON position, and check for fuel
leakage from the carburetor.
WARNING
Fuel spilled from the carburetor is hazardous.
Adjust the following items if necessary:
Throttle Cable (see this chapter)
Idle Speed (see this chapter)
Fuel Inspection
WARNING
Gasoline is extremely flammable and can be ex-
plosive under certain conditions. Always stop the
engine and do not smoke. Make sure the area is
well-ventilated and free from any source of flame
or sparks; this includes any appliance with a pilot
light.
Turn the fuel tap to the OFF position.
Remove the carburetor.
Place a suitable container beneath the carburetor.
Remove the drain plug [A] from the bottom of the float
bowl and check for water or dirt in the fuel.
If any water or dirt c omes out, clean the carburetor, fuel
tap and fuel tank (see this chapter).
Install the drain plug on the float bowl, and tighten it se-
curely.
Install the carburetor.
Carburetor Disassembly
WARNING

Remove the carburetor (see this chapter).
Disassemble the throttle valve assembly as follows.
Hold the throttle valve return spring [A] compressed, take
out the retainer [B], and free the throttle cable by sliding it
through the slot.
